My dad...is part of the Canadian Canoe Routes forum...where the spam has gotten soooo bad, that the forum itself might as well be dead. And the owner has not given the moderators the powers to stop it...and he's lost interest. Its a worst-case scenario; so I'm real glad to see we're ALL trying so hard to keep this forum spam-free.

BG discovered how to crack the computer code on the forum to make this possible. We decided we had to try this drastic measure as our best effort to help keep Skye's forum from being over-run with spam.

This procedure has to be done manually, one new member at a time, and it takes a lot of work and coordination to do it properly. So, we appreciate everyone's patience and hope that we can count on you BRIers whenever a spammer slips through our fingers and lands on the board.

Tempest - I feel sorry for your Father. His board is dead. There's just no surviving an absentee Admin and powerless Mods. It's like a ship without a rudder...

We're fortunate that the mods here are so dedicated and have a few cool mod powers.

KT - must mean a heck of a lot of work for you mods, but I think it'll benefit the board in the long run because far less spam will get through to disrupt conversations and destroy the atmosphere of the SSF.

We mods are pretty happy with how this 'previewing new members' has been going. Since we started this new procedure NO spammers have been able to post on this board. We had two more try it just a few minutes ago, which brings our grand total to 10 averted spam/porn threads in the past couple of days.

I'm sure you guys have been enjoying the garbage-free zone lately, but in case we miss a spammer please be ready to BRI if you need to.

Has there been any real people.. Not spammers?

We only know if they are real people until they post. So far no new "real" members have posted.

FYI, we have put over 100 new members on moderator preview in the past few days. The only posts that have been made by those new members have been spam/porn posts. We believe that possibly two or three of the new members are actual Skye fans, but they haven't posted yet. That's how bad this spamming has become.

Well I'm new, I'm wicked lucky to find this site. I've been a fan of Skye ever since her first CD: Noise from the Basement came out, and she is my favorite singer of all time. I've never known anyone who's a fan of her, so it's nice to talk to some of her fans. I live in California, so hardly anyone knows about her here. x_X

yeah! same here in CT I only know one other person who is a Skye fan and when we go places together we have our ipods on full blast playing Skye songs and the people just look at us like were crazy but after all we're all Skye's Sound Soldiers so we should play our music LOUD!!!! haha :lol:
